Enter Apartment 609 at your Peril ...

An eye-opening period of my life. I was drawn into a lifestyle that I had never known. Meet the boys from Oakville and some VagueMen.

Clockwise from the top

Mark: an accountant with a poet's heart

Russell: self-destructive, party-boy suffering from relational let-down (oooo, there's the pot calling the kettle black ...)

Tom: Bass Guitarist for the VagueMen. He and Karen were like siamese twins.

Tadger: That be me. That's a story if you want to buy me a beer ....

The Sarnia Girls in Apt. 610:

Heather (keep that photo hidden! You know the one ...) :)

Janine

Tracy

Jennifer, who always avoided the camera.

Is that Mark, in the background, visiting the girls in 608? To borrow from Russ, "Naughty boy!" (text alone does not do justice to Russel's execution of that phrase).

Janet must be here somewhere ...

I saw Heather a couple years later at The El Macambo, in Toronto, at a concert for the one-hit wonders, "Tall New Buildings." As I recall, she was working for TD Bank. My date didn't take kindly to meeting another one of Paul's friends who seemed to pop out of everywhere. Heather, there's a lot of story that I might discuss over a beer.

I don't know how it happened but it seems like I know half the people in the TD universe.

Speaking of Apt. 608 ...

Heather (another one) and , and , oooo it'll come to me ... Sorry, can't remember the roommate. I remember that Heather's boyfriend was Frank. Mark kept trying to convince her to dump Frank but I don't think there were any personal motives. I recall a late night raid on 608 ... mostly because I was locked out, in the hallway, in my PJs while other neighbours were having a goodnight smooch - very embarrassing.

Aside from some fun guys up in 809, I don't think that anybody else actually lived in that building. I mean, I saw people going in and out but never MET anybody. Okay, the day that I got off the elevator on the wrong floor and walked into x09 doesn't really count. The occupants were just shocked at a stranger walking into their apartment. Then there was the time that some drunk Artsies tried to mug me for my pizza but decided, in the end, that they wouldn't make my date go hungry.

We always have photos of our friends but never of ourselves since we are behind the camera during the images that we keep. All images here are photo scans since the original negatives and other photos were lost. Some of the photos are suffering significant colour fading and shifting. If you have images from your perspective, please drop me a line. I'll cover the cost of professional digital scanning.
